I do of course know how to use my gears efficiently, but always wonder why the male designers don't put low enough gears on a bike to get up steep hills?

Cos they assume you will have your saddle at an efficient height...not BMX height with your knees never straight I think DK is onto something. My mum's bike has only 3 gears but even that is a bit too futuristic for her to deal with so she leaves it in one gear.  But not something a competent cyclist like yourself would do jen

I also have my saddle at a height for efficient pedalling - why should men assume females know nothing about bike set-up??  Or am I just not a typical female

I bought my wife a woman specific version of the Trek 6500. Change gear? She hasn't got a bloody clue!

It is usually my fault when 'Mrs Vegemites' pedals are spinning too fast or when it is too difficult to turn the crank. I also get blamed for the saddle being at the wrong height.

If there's a man around, it's always his fault
