I'd never considered that, the missus' sister used to be a big something at the Environment Agency on a task force looking into flooding in 'Larndaarn' before being scalped to work on environmental risk management in the Middle East. If I ever remember next time I see her I'll mention the thought.

but when you add the leaks in the drainage system - there was link on the BBC to the amount of wastage for each water board, and it's a fair amount - and no doubt the cracks in the flagging/tarmac that appear over time, would it make a difference ?

They always spout on about concrete front gardens etc but its bollocks really, more pitiful excuses! Look at any satellite photo of a large area including towns and the amount of tarmac is a drop in the ocean.....if you excuse the pun!

By 'eck, it's not been nice out there today! Cold, wet, and windy - too cold, wet and windy for kids to be riding their bikes. I don't really like doing classroom lessons.

Why is there always more traffic when it's raining? It was proper busy round the Trafford Centre this afternoon.
And there is no drought here, so can someone turn the rain off please?

Just back from tha' insanely wet Peak town of Buxton on the infamous Cat & Fiddle Road. A challenging drive. Will it ever stop ? Turning into some Ray Bradbury story here.

Clouds have cleared and the skies are beautiful and blue... chilly though, at only around 13 degrees!

Fast-moving clouds with varying levels of precipitation and gaps of beautiful sunshine. Warm in the gaps, about 15c when they close...
