Bradford Council - as the landowner of Ilkley Moor - grants lawful authority for Mountain Bike Users to ride on the trails on Ilkley Moor, except for those trails that are identified by Bradford Council as unsuitable for passage by any user. Such trails will be clearly marked.

Mountain Bike Users agree to give way to other moorland users to avoid conflict. See point 4of IMBA UK Rules of the Trail.

    6. The follow locations are considered particularly vulnerable . Bradford Council intends to undertake remedial work to reinforce these trails by autumn 2010. In the meantime, Mountain Bike Users agree to treat these trails in a way that avoids or minimises damage (e.g. avoid riding on the trails in significantly wet conditions, avoid deviating from the trail).

    a. The boardwalk on the Dick Hudson’s path
    b. The trail from Trig Point to Thimble Stones - is that to the top of Dick Hudson's path where the boardwalk was?
    c. The trail on Crawshaw Moss (aka Red Bog) - [I]where's this?[I]

Seems fair enough. Though Emmerdale film crew destroyed the moor where they where and walkers create far more erosion than bikers due to their numbers so I wonder if film crews and walkers have similar restrictions?
Doesn't say anything about East of Apostles?

The above has always been true for the Bradford side but the East (of Apostles) side is owned by Leeds council and they're far less accommodating. The mile long descent is all Leed council area. As I understand it the Dick Hudsons path has always been controversial, with the access information sign at the gate being changed (often hand changed!) quite a few times

I remember a stink a few years (~?4-5) ago when locals (one tw4t in particular) used the fact some kids had built a jump route on the moor to try and ban access for all bikes. Thankfully saner heads prevailed but there is a real anti-bike feeling from some locals so we do need to be a little careful.

Bit like the Chevin - we tend to use it at 10pm on a Tuesday night and don't cause any probs but a horde of bikers riding surprise view at 1pm on a Sunday will tarnish all bikers

A reminder that www.northleedsmtb.co.uk is still live as a landing page and also storage for routes, photos etc. I tried to make it a site where all could upload but it can't be sorted for free (with my ICT skills). So if you want it sharing put it up here or send it to me and i'll put it there.

Anyone out tomorrow? I can lead from here: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x...earchp=ids.srf
Will head up to Top Withens, 7.30 start.
The pub is the Cross Roads Inn and is right on the mini roundabout, not used it before but it looks ok, gives us a tougher start but easier finish!

wouldn't raise your hopes, 'tis freakily dry out there. I'm sure he'll find hills & rocks though.

I've a bad feeling I know which the first track is gonna be...
