    Anyone got a cheap chainset?

I need a cheap as chips chainset & BB.

I'm really not fussy can be antiquated Isis/Octalink or any other out of date in the back of the shed sort of thing it just needs to spin freely enough for me flog my Inbred as a 'complete bike'.

Anyone got any junk lying round in a shed they want to sell?

    With one of these.

IIRC the inbred has a 50mm chain line so you'll need a 68x113.

That might be a basic chainset but it's too cheap to ignore.

    Torn now...

Will the 26" On-One I have to sell make more money with the brand new never ridden SLX chainset that I have on it (but wanted to put on another bike so I can put my RotoR chainset on my new plastic bike) or should I spend 20 on the cheapo chainset knowing that the On-One is only likely to fetch around 350 or so and a new SLX/XT chainset is going to be 100-150.

i.e. Is a shit chainset going to put the sort of person that would buy a 26" On-One off buying it?

No, I wouldn't think so. In fact it's not really "shit", is it? It's functional, a bit wieghty, maybe but that BB will last a wholr lot longer than an octalink/ hollowtech one. Think the original square taper on my Marin saw half a dozen chainring changes and still spun up smoothly. This was over a period of, about, eight years, btw.
