    Well that was hotter than a hot thing on fire!

    had to leave early but Stan & BHB were still going well. Removed several kilos of dust from various crevices but it was a fantastic event again (catering aside).

    I enjoyed that, almost my arse is suffering from 16hrs in the saddle and I've some very distinct tan lines.

    Thats was an excellent course, very bumpy on the wrists, beautiful night laps but 24 solo is definately tough, lots of support from both riders and spectators throughout for the solo's. I was slightly pertubed by the guy on the 140mm forked Cotic Soul I had a chat with;

    "You're solo right?"

    "Yep, lap 28"

    Special thanks to Mrs Alx and Mrs & Little Miss BHB for their support.

    Looking forward to several hours of sleep now.

    Great weekend. Well done to all the BM crew for epic efforts in seriously hot conditions. I too struggled with the heat - facing a constant battle to keep my beer cold.

    Mental note ... 1) don't pull wheelies all around the course just because a child is ringing a cowbell 2) never ever enter Bontrager ever again unless as part of a social team do a couple of laps have a sleep. 3) always keep a can of Mackerel in the ride bag for when a bonk arives.

    Alcohol is gradually making me feel alive, I've eaten a full roast chicken at the harvester on the Quay a pint of San Miguel and 4 cans of Calsberg.

    - The Missus is now dissecting my performance and suggesting I should really for once in my life try and achieve some degree of excellence rather than just settling for merely being a bit above average.

    I confused her by suggesting that yes I can train more and actually try harder, but I will need a Ritchey P29 and a Cube AMS HPC 100mm Race bike.

    She agreed in principle as I hope to get rid of the road bikes in my life as they are pretty much 'gay'.

    Yeah, you get these types. After I had got my last lap in under the 12hr mark I was just dragging the bike back home and got chatting to a guy in the Solo. He was talking about other races... I was mentioning some of the XC stuff I do and this summer he said he'd done mountain Mayhem 24hr solo before this one...I was full of praise for doing two 24hr solos in the space of couple of months, then he drops in oh and I did an Ultr Marathon the weekend before bontranger - *running* 62miles - apparently he was worried about his legs being drained but they weren't

    it's another world out there i tell you

    Classic line from Nobby jnr at midnight, after I'd commented on reaching 100k:

    "don't worry stan, it's not like you have to do that again"

    Erm...
