Strava:- why no debate on that ?

Its a useful tool for personal development thats how I view it.
4 rides over 6 days and I have loads of PRs
    17 today
    3 Yesterday
    2 on an MTB Sunday
    and 6 last Thursday
Should I go for rides to get KOMs ?
    Do you ?

According to strava i'm getting faster on the road but since getting the 29er i'm getting much much slower on a mtb.

I'm not sure if it's actually useful, I tend not to read anything into segments unless it's a target I'm trying to achieve. I just look at Distance and Av Speed mostly.

Going out to get KOM's is a bit of a faux pas I think it's called being a Stravasshole.

I would have to try a lot harder to get KOMs, I do have 3 but one of which has only 3 people in it

Personally, I find the times / averages useful to measure my performance over the same loops / climbs and record annual distance ridden.

As there are many variances day to day its better to use the monthly / annual charts on endo / strava IMO, comparing with last years as of course the seasonal weather also makes a difference.

I like the fact it reassures me I'm not the fattest, slowest old fart that rides our local trails.

tut tut you also have a KOM that only has 1 - rider in it ;-)

Just had a look at my KOMs/CR's and God fucking dammit I just lost a KOM now i'm 2nd in 475. I think that was the only which counted :-(

Rule #321 States a KOM will only count if more than 100 people have ridden it.

I wish Strava would show you which Top10's/20's you were in.

I just checked Nobby and you are second slowest! Apparently the person who is slowest, had a major bike breakdown and had to walk the last 15 miles!

2 KOMs (on segs more than 2 have ridden) on today's little ride says otherwise.

Stans right: Rule #21 Downhill segments don't count.

Stan's never right, you'll only encourage him....

and he has a weird definition of 'hill'.

I had 15 KOMs last time I checked, this thread reminded me to have another look, I now have 1, thanks a lot...

S'pose I could make an effort to redeem some of them, but I'll probably just enjoy riding my bike instead.

I know the sister in law used to live round his way...I think a speed bump counts as a Cat 2 in Hertfordshire.

In which case, the road at the bottom of the hill, Wetherby Road, has just acquired 6 (that's SIX!) sets of the fcuking things, this week. Something to do with the new primary school being opened in September. Mind you the various Range Rover's/X5's/Q7's & 5's that will be dropping little Tarquin and Summer off won't be troubled by them.....

The world needs more speed bumps and working cameras.

There is no reason for motor cars to go above 20mph in a built up area.

(Unless it's a Fire engine or an Ambulance)

Never start chasing them - I've tried twice. Once was the first one Strava told me I'd lost so I decided to get it back. The crash was quite spectacular according to the guy who offered to ring an ambulance!

The other was a climb which we'd pootled up chatting & it turned out we were 2nd & 3rd on the leaderboard. Next time we rode it I absolutely wasted myself getting to the top but Strava didn't fekkin register it as being ridden
