    Wanted: Beginner Road Bike

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a good beginner road bike, 54cm frame. Just something to get me started; never had a road bike so something decent to get me out and about and enjoying my riding. No more than 200.

I'm currently in County Durham, so within the North-East/Yorkshire preferred.

    Thanks,
    Sam.

    The cheapest Pauls cycles have.

Unless you want to try Argos or Hellfrauds you're going to need to up the budget a wee bit I'm afraid.

Within your budget but TBH I wouldn't touch it with someone elses bargepole.

Sorry, I should probably have mentioned I'm looking second hand. A 400/500 bike that's 4/5 years old should come down to around 200 shouldn't it? Or am I still shooting low?

Brilliant, thanks guys. Ill take a look.

Do you think a second hand bike at 300 would be a lot better than that decathlon bike? I was really wanting to go second hand to get something of better quality for cheaper.

You're always better off upping your budget a wee bit and buying new.

Samuel - those btwins won't change price for a bit. Pop into singletrackworld.com (sssh gorehound) and put a wanted add up (its free to do so), specifying your price and mentioning the btwin as a reference - see what you get. For example, someone is selling one if those - albeit a small one - for 100 at the moment.
