    A great, British leader.

When are we due one eh? A good honest stand up person with some mettle, guts and glory, business accumen, heroism, picks up back from the brink - a true leader of the people.

    And is it Boris?

Never going to happen . Every word spoken by politicians is considered , every answer to a question is designed to get maximum approval , nobody can tell it as it really is because they would get crucified by the media . So what you end up with is watered down yes men who know all the sound bites and spin , look good on TV but don't have any real conviction or policies , only what they think will make them popular . Boris is a complete twat .

When have we ever had a leader fitting your description.

I can't think of a time in history where there's been rule without tyranny...

Bevin in office showed the same pragmatic stubbornness that had characterised his years as a trade union leader and as one of the integral organisers of the Labour Party. Like Churchill, he was an old-fashioned English (as opposed to British) patriot, which was why the two leaders worked well together. However, he was also an internationalist and a supporter of the American Alliance. He saw clearly that Britain's days of imperial greatness were over, something he did not regret, unlike Churchill, as Bevin believed that the working class had never benefited from the Empire.

For his critics, his most lasting legacy remains the failure of his Palestine policy.

Boris may, indeed, be a twat however, he is a poliitician and I'm fairly certain much of what spews forth is far from considered.

Thats what gives him character. Apart from that, he's a suprisingly good businessman, and a man of the people.

He's worked out that doing what most people want within reason, and sticking to his guns on a promise works. If he runs, I'll vote for him. FWIW he's done a lot of good work as London Mayor, not all of it obvious.
