Mine was pretty much down to being an alcoholic and having a pretty bad magnesium deficiency.
Now I take Magnesium, Zinc and Pottasium supplements, I still cramp up from time to time but nowhere near as much as I used to.
I use High5 (as it frequently comes up when the missus is on her Groupon type websites).
Jens bike still looks set up wrong!

It can also be caused by menstruation, check next time you get cramp.

Commentators curse. I got cramp in my calf today. Mind you I'd done a hard 40 miles and it happened when I was I clipped out at a give way.

You are describing your adductors, and you can stretch them

Google 'standing groin stretch' or watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zmgk5zMx5jIThere is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate tyres

That's a week of riding the new bike, and only the occasional mishap, like not getting hold of the brake levers properly and riding into a barrier to stop, and also (whilst demonstrating to a group of kids) finding the kerb stops you quite well too - I don't think they noticed.

Today was a test of the bike's off-road ability, nothing too techy mind, but some interestingly steep gravel tracks and berms, and lots of pavé sections. I didn't like the feeling of being so far over the front of the bike on the brakes down the steep bits, but otherwise it was good
