Gore Phantom - alternatives?
Mines got holes in and I'm considering a new Phantom - but is there a real alternative at the same / lesser price point with the same performance?
aka Sean / Sandeep / Sylvian / Seamus....

Not sure on alternatives but try and check a new phantom out in the flesh first if you can. I'm sure I remember reading on STW that they've changed the material to something less good. My phantom has been going for years and is worn on practically every autumn/winter/spring road/mtb ride so I'm dreading the day it finally dies.

Oh, not what I wanted to hear. I'm in exact the same predicament, with a few holes caused by a bramble bush and one of the pockets coming unstitched.
I suppose it'll last another year...aka Sean / Sandeep / Sylvian / Seamus....

That's the Convert, which I have. Very comfy, cuts the wind well but it's not as close fitting as the Phantom (The Windchill is the equivalent). Shrugs off showers well but won't hold out in a downpour. I'm happy with the Convert despite having to get a warranty replacement when the stitching on the cuff piping decided to unravel....Waving at the proles.
