    Road Race Cats....

    Can someone explain to me categories and points, and how best it is for me to attempt a road race or two next year please. I have the BCF calendar...

    Get a licence, join a club and get use to riding close [very close] in a bunch, do crits first. You cant move up the cats until you have proved [by results] you are good enough.

    Be wary of taking nice kit to a 4th cat race, they're more erratic than any other races as (by their nature) it's a bunch of guys who don't really know what they're doing.

    I got spat out the back of my first two 3/4 races, then got a 3rd and a 4th finish and was a 3rd cat, which is a more pleasant place to be!
