Didn't realise you used to guide DK, and the Cairngorms as well, that must have been a good one to do.

You're right about the those deer though, friend was driving down to Perth when all the traffic in front suddenly stopped. Massive Stag stood in the middle of the A9 ! facing the traffic and not giving a f**k about 'em. Made its presence known and then nonchantly wandered off into the woods.

Took some time out, got qualified as MTB leader and Whitewater rafting guide back in 2000, at Lagganlia outdoor centre, guided both disciplines for 18 months, in the Highlands then Turkey, of all places.
Then got married and had to get a real job :/

I came around a corner on a solo night ride once to be confronted by a deer standing in the middle of the track. Scared the crap out of me!

If I was my dad, I'd trade her in for a newer younger version.

Came across one of these once.

Plus, deer, bats (following beams in lamps on a night ride), owls, stoat, weasel (in France), hoopoe (France), foxes, rabbits, a hare (damn big buggers), various hawks and buzzards, ducks (various), geese (various), toads, frogs.

One thing I never seem to see are hedgehogs (I remember seeing more when I was younger in the UK) and I've only ever seen one badger. One thing I really don't want to bump into here though is wild boar.

I live in Devon and have of course seen the Hound of the Basrkervilles, the Exmoor Best, the Beast of Bodmin and have been attacked by the Hairy Hands.

Got knocked off by a huge ferral goat when I was riding home from work at about 3am about ten years ago , it virtually jumped off a cliff face onto me . It was really big and didn't smell too good either but it was a lot less affected by the collision than I was . It walked away almost shaking its head in nonchalant fashion .

Slightly OT - the badger in the orchard is bear-like to say the least. In all my days I can't think of a bigger example of a badger TBH.

Are you sure that it's not bear? It could have been spray painted to look like a gargantuan Badger?
