    What lube?

After Finish Line wet gummed up my chain, and Purple Extreme and White Lightning Epic seems to evaporate out of the bottle pdq, what long lasting (content wise) "clean" chain lube should I consider please?

    Mini reviews welcome.

I've persevered with the Finish line red, for the past few weeks after initially dismissing it. It's been great in the dry conditions lately, and it will deal with the odd shower.

Pedros icewax is also very good, very clean, but a slight shower and say goodbye to it....

I've not been that impressed with the finishline ceramic - seems to wear off quickly for me and leave a noisy chain (however, I might just be applying it wrong as a few people seem to rate it). My favourite is rock'n'roll extreme but it can be messy to apply.

The Purple Extreme I liked, but doesn't last the 4000k per application or whatever is says on the bottle.

The Epic just seems to wear out after 30 mins and the chain starts squeaking.

TBH the best I've used so far is the synth Castrol for the car sitting in the shed, I may go back to that.

This, although it can make your chain look dirty is keeps the moving bits clean & free moving.

Alx, don't be shy when applying it....

    For the road or MTB...?

I use Prolink Progold for the not-so-dirty excursions. Very clean-running...

Both really Hans, I dont really want to do wet, dry MTB and wet, dry road. Too many bottles not enough patience...

If you don't mind having two different lubes for road and MTB then I'd opt for the Progold stuff for all-year round road use. It's better to use one of those little syringe-type applicators - puts it exactly where you need it with very little wastage. It's also good for pivots and other moving parts - the front mech and brake levers etc.

Finish Line Red:- seems to keep things pretty clean and as DK says can resist the odd shower. The finish line green just gets too mucky IMO

I tried some white lightning stuff a few summers ago and found I needed to reapply mid ride as it just didn't seem to stay put.

ooook. So managed to control the flow a bit on the WL Epic and cleaned the Yeti chain today before (generous) first application.

No squeaky chain and clean too so good news. Maybe I'll give it a chance but still, it doesn't look like its going to last for long...
