    SRAM Grip Shift goes 10-speed

Who used to use Grip Shift back in the day? Who misses it? Anyone? What do you think of SRAM bringing it back, updated for 2x10 groupsets?

It's a bit of a Marmite thing really, my first bike came with it but I soon changed to proper shifters.

    Sounds like something to avoid.

Yep I had it back in the day, it was okay. I was glad of a return to shifters when I bought a new bike though.

I have to say that I quite liked my old dual control levers, wouldn't mind some for my current MTB tbh.

Never really got on with them but know a few racers that insisted on using them to save weight.

DK, I recently parted with my dual-controls as it's a nightmare trying to find XTR rapid rise mechs

Impossible to use them without making Revving noises.

I LOVED the Sachs Wavy shifters I used to have. Just they were useless in the mud. I quite like the shifting action (still prefer trigger shifters however)

The only thing that has ever stopped me longing after XT thumbshifters has been M970 XTR shifters.

Alternative shifter conversation and no-one's harking back to thumbies?

I have normal shifters in both Sram and Shimano on different bikes. I've had grip shifters in the past and found them horrible and awkward to use compared a quick push with the thumb or a click with the fingers. They work nuff said, but each to their own.

However I'll never touch grip shifters or dual control with a shitty stick.

My first MTB had gripshift which I was happy to use for quite a few years but eventually I switched to and stuck with triggers for MTB use ever since. I guess I just prefer to keep my hands on the bars. I still use grip shifters on the commute hack though.

I haven't used thumbies since ditching the road bike. I liked how you could switch them from indexed shifting to 'manual' shifting when the shifting got sloppy and you couldn't be arsed to sort it out.
