    Indeed - the future's bright......

It's always a danger when you put a team of (relative) strangers together as the blurred line between fun & competitive can get completely lost.

Whilst I only ever enter thes things for shits & giggles these days it's hard not to set yourself some personal goal or another. This year at 24/12 I'd aimed to get 6 laps in our (12hr pairs) race but only did 4 (mind you, that was before I'd ridden the new course!). It wasn't because I couldn't or didn't want to but a decision was taken due to my team-mate's injury - if I'd carried on he would have insisted on going out again and I was not prepared to let him risk it. It still took his Mrs & mine to talk him down.

I don't blame him at all & I certainly won't beat myself up about not achieving the target I'd set for myself. An interview with Gary Fisher I read many, many years ago has always stuck with me, he said something along the lines of:

"The only person we ever need to test ourselves against is ourself - the true winner of any race is not the man who crosses the line first but the one with the biggest grin".

Wise words from someone with questionable facial hair.

Just checking in from the beach with a cocktail in hand.

I really enjoyed sits and the team dynamic and I would do it again next year.

That is all, have fun boys!
