There was a thread about unicyclists at Mayhem where I had a wee rant about how much they get on my tits when they suddenly swerve infront of you. There's now a subsequent thread called 'Who's your least favourite mountain biker?' and I'm mentioned repeatedly! I'm happy with my efforts to become their least liked person (for today at least), maybe I should troll full time :-)

Goes to defend Nick, or at least stir things up a bit more ;)

Vegemite
27-06-07, 18:57
Are they basing it on your on-line persona or have they actually ridden with you Nick?

Vegemite
27-06-07, 18:57
Any chance of a link?

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 18:57
No no, it's 100% based on what I said about unicyclists earlier! Not one of them knows me, and I've not been over there for long!

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 18:59
initial threadresulting threadI'm njee20 btw! I was absoultely pissing myself at how wound up they got! I love all the allegations for my being a primadonna and such, I'll be honest, I can see where they're coming from from what I said, but it's great fun!

Vegemite
27-06-07, 19:08
That sums up STW imo.I know this is nothing new but the place is sooo shonkey I honestly cannot understand why it is so popular?

Mike S
27-06-07, 19:08

Mike S
27-06-07, 19:36

27-06-07, 19:37
I know I have!

Sadbloke, missing for a while
27-06-07, 19:39
I had a wee about how much they get on my tits when they suddenly swerve infront of you.But by design they are only one wheel so should be very easy to avoid, remember speed kills, especially when your old and cant keep up.Why did you have a wee in front of them

Dirty Karlos
27-06-07, 19:42
Ah, so you're a southerner too XC or maybe a southern wannabe ?How disgusting.

X Commie
27-06-07, 19:44
Neither DK. A northerner and proud of it.... but if you dont tend to your bilge pump you might end up with a soggy handjob....

Mike S
27-06-07, 19:44
He's saving up for the move south DK, one day you may be able to join him. Just get a decent job and we may let you in.

Dirty Karlos
27-06-07, 19:47
Pah, bollox to that I'm only going further North. I've no wish to see my head disappear up my own arse like you lot, besides the North is the new South.

Dirty Karlos
27-06-07, 19:51
I've no wish to defend where I live right now, Hull is the pits. North Yorkshire is where I'm headed, can't wait.

Carlos the Slackal
27-06-07, 19:52
The good folks of North Yorkshire can. ;-)

dk, what are the new trails like in dalby forest? worth a trip up from staffs? me and the cousin like?

Nobby
27-06-07, 20:34
There's a review in WhatMTB this month that reckons that they're some of the best trails they've ever ridden. We're looking to plan a trip up from Kent already.

Dirty Karlos
27-06-07, 20:42
dk, what are the new trails like in dalby forest? worth a trip up from staffs? me and the cousin like? They're really rather nice.I'm not just saying it because I'm from Yorkshire either. I've ridden the North Welsh trail centres and some of the Stanes and the are up there with them. They have a unique Yorkshire feel to them through the forest and there is less fireroad than at most centres, in fact very little fireroad. Well worth a trip up, I'd say.Being a bit of a masochist if I had any criticism of the new trails it would be the lack of big climbs, there are big climbs in the forest but for some reason the haven't being included. The singletrack is just great fun though with many fast flowing berms and little jumps and drops, or big drops depending on how fast you dare take them ;-)

chapel gate demon
27-06-07, 20:50
im flicking through it as we speak nobby.lack of big climbs? thatll do!

Dirty Karlos
27-06-07, 20:51
Actually, thinking about it, it's probably a good thing for your average weekend warrior that there aren't too many big climbs as it's a very physical 22 mile circuit.

chapel gate demon
27-06-07, 21:00
who you calling an average weekend warrior?0)

Dirty Karlos
27-06-07, 21:05
You'll be fine :¬)I've ridden it 1-2 times a week for months, it's best ridden fast as it's so flowing. It's better the second time round, like all the best films or LPs ;-)

chapel gate demon
27-06-07, 21:08
it's best ridden fast as it's so flowing"damn, and theres me, i was gonna ride it o so slow....cheers dk, will give it a go when i can."

Nobby
27-06-07, 21:24
It's best ridden upright more like q;o]

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 21:59
LOL at some of replies, I'm proud to stand up for the BM massive!Mike: the main thing I find amusing is that they're saying I'm a 'wannabe elite/primadonna' etc etc, but I had a conversation with 2 elites from top teams who shall remain nameless, and 1 said 'Ive only managed to knock 1 fcuking unicyclist off so far, down on last year', 'they' seem to think I have some extreme view because I can't ride a bike. It's also quite amusing that none of them know me at all, it's nice to come back here, where everybody knows your name, and you're always glad you came...**sings Cheers theme song**

Jimmy Jazz
27-06-07, 22:15
They do seem like a bunch of unts. It's a race ffs and they're moaning that you had the cheek to actually overtake someone. Self righteous nerds. They are right about Warner tho'....He's ridden into a few mates trying to knock them over 'cause they weren't fast enough, they had stopped for someone who'd crashed or he just felt like being a ©unt. I know more than a few people who'd like to have a few words with the wannabe-celebrity asshole.

Nobby
27-06-07, 22:24
I want to abuse them but can't seem to post over`there :o(

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 22:27
lol, sorry Nobby, STW baiting is a) good fun and b) easy, so you should definitely look into that problem!I don't like the lack of avatars, I never really notice who's posted what, not like around here.

Nobby
27-06-07, 22:38
Yeah - I'm on about my 4th or 5th logon but they tend to bin them after a few posts 8o)

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 22:45
It's also weird that's there's so many more threads/replies, but they don't last. I've never seen more than 200 or so posts, and most get to about 10, not like around here where there are some real staples that dominate for a while and get thousands of replies.

Nigel Hancock
27-06-07, 22:52
Different forum system means threads don't last as long IMOStill being helpful though on there though Nick ;) Both forums have their merits & problems! I can find both sites equally populated by annoying twats on any day :pBeen here since 98 but only on STW since 04.

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 23:04
Yeah, I'm usually helpful, in fact that's why I'm on there, I come here to spout shit, and there to talk about bikes, but that doesn't get noticed. What does get noticed was my opinions about unicyclists, which essentially stem from the fact I go to Mayhem to win, not to get drunk/have fun!

Luke.
27-06-07, 23:14
its crying out for a what tyres to knock a unicyclist off? type thread.

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 23:16
PMSL! Except that gets sensored. I may start one though...'What tyres for a mincing wannabe elite primadonna who cant ride a bike'

Nigel Hancock
27-06-07, 23:25
Perhaps you went with the wrong attitude then Nick (Mr Grumpy :p)I went to ride a bit & be team mechanic to 3 teams (no wonder I was knackered!)During the night another Nick passed me at what can only be described as inhuman speeds with a cheery Thanks" as I dived to the left to let him through, not only that he was smiling every time I saw him throughout the weekend. He sure didn't look drunk but he did look like he was enjoying it, Mr Craig is a great ambassador for our sport many could learn from his PMA ;)"

Nick Evans
27-06-07, 23:36
I never said I wasn't cheerful, I thanked every rider I passed when it was possible, most people are extremely courtious, people seem not to understand my point of view on the unicyclists! I give up!
