View Full Version : BRING BACK THE DRAFT

A small thing is a good thing
03-11-04, 11:56
I hope america brings back the draft. If the majority of people there are dumb enough to vote for that c*nt then its the least them f*ckers deserve.

BATFINK
03-11-04, 12:11
apparently there will be a compulsary draft next summer.I read it somewhere on the internet

Altitude Sickness
03-11-04, 12:14
why should the rest of the world be subjected to trigger happy rednecks destroying their countries, whether bush gets in or not we need a bit less carnage imho.

BATFINK
03-11-04, 12:14
in fact it was here:http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/channel.cfm?channelid=39&contentid=1553&page=2

A small thing is a good thing
03-11-04, 13:48
Agreed AS - at least this way it will be the ordinary americans who voted for bush who will feel it with friends and loved ones being conscripted rather than just those who have american bombs dropping down on their iraqi wedding parties etcBatfink it will be interesting to see if the neo-cons can now do something to enrage americans so that they blindly allow the draft like its a good thing.

Or they could just send over more British cannon fodder. Sorry 'our boys'.

Here here, ASTIAGT. If those numpies (sorry Numpty) are stupid enough to vote that war-monger back in on a Yee-haw, lits go blow urp sum I-Rakkeez in tha name of oyll, erm ah meen freedom" ticket, then they should pay the highest penalty for casting that vote - i.e. getting exactly what they wished for."

the brits arent cannon fodder, but thats due to their sheer proffesionalism and attitude.god bless the UKAF

Baron Von Grinder (goose steppin disco diva)
03-11-04, 14:51
well i think the fact it was all soooo close is a good sign that he is not in as much favour as he hopes.but i doubt that will play on any conscience he might have/never had.

Bonsai Padowan (Karaoke Hobbit)
03-11-04, 14:54
the brits arent cannon fodder, but thats due to their sheer proffesionalism and attitude."That's because they've been in Basra, where their sheer proffesionalism and attitude mean making nice with the locals (wearing berets instead of helmets, giving out pens and pictures to the kids, playing the occasional game of kevball, and generally not being a complete collective arse) while the Yanks in the north have been doing their Hollywood / Arnie routine of looking all tough and strutting around armed to the teeth, shooting the shit out of people how look a bit dodgy, and generally alienating those who they were sent to save.I honestly believe that once the Brits reach Baghdad and Falujah, Johnny Arab pretty much won't care which westerner her's shooting at (thanks to the rank ineptitude of the Yanks) and British casualties will rocket. At that point, they will become cannon fodder."

Baron Von Grinder (goose steppin disco diva)
03-11-04, 14:59
cannon fodder is a term given to conscripted soldiers that where used to bump up the numbers of front line troops in vietnam.WE the UK dont have cannon fodder.we have proffesional soldiers who by in large act as a skilled unit with deliberate actions and aims.

1. cannon fodder n. (100%) soldiers regarded merely as material to be expended in war.(From The Concise Oxford English Dictionary in English Dictionaries & Thesauruses)

Baron Von Grinder (goose steppin disco diva)

sorry if im off subject but i think its an insult to call our forces cannon fodder.

Anne Brown

they should pay the highest penalty for casting that vote - i.e. getting exactly what they wished for"except unfortunately only about 20-25% of Americans actually voted for him."

1. cannon fodder n. (100%) soldiers regarded merely as material to be expended in war."Who's to say Whitehall don't regard the troops in Iraq as material to be expended in war? Like it or not Baron, and regardless of the attitude or professionalism of the BA, troops sent to an illegal war are noting more than cannon fodder."

Baron Von Grinder (goose steppin disco diva)
03-11-04, 15:14
whitehall can say all it wants, the commander on the ground always has the last say on how the operations and executed.smoking dope is illegal, so are all casual tokers to be classed as junkies ??no of course not, so just becuase a soldier is sent into an illegal war dosent make him cannon foder.

The draft doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Dubya and Cheney and every last one of their secretary of states were of the right age to be sent to Vietnam, and every one managed to escape thanks to rich daddies. Its always the poor who get sent to the front. But they won't bring back the draft, there is no need. By exporting all their jobs to China they are creating a constant supply of young dumb kids who have no option but to sign up 'voluntarily'.

Baron Von Grinder (goose steppin disco diva)
03-11-04, 15:40
how did cheney end up with those medals that he chucked away ?

phil davis 1
03-11-04, 15:49
Cheney? Aren't you getting him mixed up with Kerry? Cheney had 'more important things to do' that fight in Vietnam. In fact, its widely rumoured he got his wife pregnant specifically to avoid the draft. No wonder she's a lesbian!

Baron Von Grinder (goose steppin disco diva)

sorry yeah! its the bad light at this time of day :)

I hadn't been worrying too much about the old US voting thing til yesterday. Can't get too excited about it - Kerry and Edwards like Howerd have some strange sleight of tongue that goes something like Although our elected leader is a lying, cheating @rsewipe and actedd illegally on flawed evidence, I'd have done the same thing"I stop listening about then. Also, wars come and go. Economic cycles come ago. Destruction of the planet's environment through reckless polution comes and ...Oh no, that one's permanent."

SloBoy Two Dents" Fukawi"
03-11-04, 17:46
On the cannon fodder thing - it's the commanders who decide whether they're cannon fodder or not. The Red Army of WWII were the masters of it, of course, hurling unit after unit in the path of the advancing Germans. I'd like to think we do it more thoughtfully, but if you're in the first wave of an amphibious assault for example, you can be as trained and as disciplined as you like, you're still cannon fodder.

Baron Von Grinder (goose steppin disco diva)
03-11-04, 18:04
1. cannon fodder n. (100%) soldiers regarded merely as material to be expended in war."the army dont waste money on training troops to die merely as material to be expended in war.the paras used to work on the basis that a 3rd of the troops dropped would be unfit to fight due to accidents incured during parachute deployment.as a result they have now switched to insertion by helicopters as the main means.why ? they dont consider their men as cannon fodder."

In Baggers at the mo and bumped into the Black Watch lads injured in the VBIED. Strong lads, but you've got to wonder when its gonna hit them, and when it does its gonna be hard. Lucky that our government feels they can pay us less for being here ( as we get 20 minutews free phone calls a week). Cheers Tone!!Read the mirror lately and its been right on the pulse. Blokes who do EOD are just normal people likeyou and me, alright, a bit unhinged but still normal. RAF boys don't normally volunteer they get 'CHOSEN'. Its all part of our trade and we don't get any extra dosh unlike Para's and Booties who get jump pay. (you still get jump pay don't you?). 2 of the lads I work with were seconded to the same bunch of R.E's Luke Allsop was with. They even trust us so much they're gonna let us set the Bonfire and do the Fireworks for the station bonfire on Monday, BIIIGGGGGG mistake.....

The Airborne Warrior
06-11-04, 16:55
Is it a bonfire of PE4 Goaty! A few of the RAF fire crew from Lyneham tried to light the bonfire last night. I think they're better off sticking to putting them out! and yeah, we still get jump pay (144.00 a month) the bootnecks don't get it as they don't jump (though their equivalent of our Pathfinders do) and they get extra dosh.

Goaty-Death Facilitator.....
06-11-04, 20:12
RAF Firemen should stick to what they're good at, playing volleyball. I spent 6 weeks at Lyneham earlier this year and that was all they did (but thats all firemen do).I don't think the station commander would be too happy with us making the station bonfire lots of little bonfires 'cos that would be a guarnteed result with PE4. Our EOD Sqn (The glorious 5131)tried to get EOD pay for all of us who do it, the reasoning being give an incentive to people who do a shit and potentially dangerous job but where told to poke it in no uncertain terms!!!! God bless the M.O.D.

The Airborne Warrior
06-11-04, 20:26
The reason you were told to 'poke it' is because the MOD realise that there will always be brave Airmen who will be willing to work in EOD for no extra pay (as you are now) As you well know Goaty, it's all about money.......yep god bless the tight bastards.Para pay was gonna get binned in 1992.A load of MP's from Westminster accompanied us on a Brigade jump in one of the 14 Hercs. 2 hours drawing and fitting chutes and packing drop kit on the Herc. Low level for 3 hours, followed by two 45 men sticks jumping port and starboard. 12 injuries, including one broken back and two broken legs.We kept our Para pay!

Goaty-Death Facilitator.....
06-11-04, 20:34
I'll have to suggest that some of my armament bretheren take a hit for the team so I can up my meagre monthly Cpls pay. No, I don't think thats the way things should be done. We could all start failing our EOD courses (which the RAF used to do regulary 'cos thr RE's didn't want us to do EOD) but that just shits on the already qualified fella's. Guess we'll all have to like it or lump it. Could always join the Navy and do clearance diving, EOD under water in the dark 'cos they get dive pay......

It's all to do with the christmas tree theory. Thin at the top (WOs etc)and fat at the bottom (SACs). It isn't quite like that in the RAF. It's a lot thicker at the top than it should be. Too Many chiefs and not enough indians. We used to have a thing called 'Time Promotion' which mean't you got your tapes 3 years after your further training. Sort of cocked up the promotion ladder. It all went a bit dry after the Berlin Wall went down and we got screwed by options for change, they shut us down in Germany....

You only live once and the grand kids will not give a flying shit that you made it to flight sergeant (or me to sergeant major) it's more important to have a good laugh and enjoy what you can.

Yeah Dirk, but that 40.000 pay off and 600.00 a month pension means at 40 when you retire, a part time job as a postman will suffice and you can spend youre afternoons at leisure.

I joined up 'cos I didn't want to be a farmer like my Dad and I didn't want to work in the abbatoir. Looks like I'm in it for the pension now as well. With the advent of all the shite going down in the world now I can get plenty of work doing Mine clearance etc. It's good money if you think the risk is worth it.

Dirk,The SAS lad was a nutter, he loved the action and everything about it, still flicked his Switch for sure, been in the army for years. The Friend, was in the National Guard in America and got called up, Hated it, didn't have a choice and frequently said there all being brainwashed himself and agreed it was all for oil.Loads of Respect for our Armed forces, very little for the American forces, and well Iraq is a waste of time and life, and if americans weren't so damn stupid, Bush would be out and odds are it's all be sorted pretty quick, but oh no, loads more blood shed to come most likely.Sure I'll get to try soldiering myself if the next few years pans out like I expect.See any action then Dirk ???

Hey I'm fitter than the Average Brit, There Again the Average Brit is seriously unfit. Can March for Miles with Heavy Rucksack, and will likely take more bullets to kill me than average so I'd make excellent cannon fodder :)No Disrespect, just wondering thats all!!!Remember I'd liked to have seen some Action, it's all the marching and waking up at 6am crap I don't like. Although I'd of refused point blank to go to Iraq / Afghan so presently be spending time in a military prison most likely.

remember i'd liked to have seen some action"Don't mean to be snotty dylan, but i believe being shot at for your pay packet is a SERIOUSLY over-rated pastime, ask these lads on here!Remember as well, it's all the marching & getting up a 6am crap that tends to keep you alive in the warzone, no point in not cominh back is there?:)"

With the guns that your average goatwhacker is toting in Iraq and Afghanistan these days it will only take one of them to do the job, doesn't matter how fit you are or how thick your 'Body Armour' is........

Modern day Body armour, not alot of use then, against AK47's and the like.p.s. was only joking about that bit.2 more blackwatch injured, they got lucky to survive that, nice one Tone.

it would have to weigh a tonne to be bullet proof completely.body armour is designed to hold you together and reduce the size of the exit wound.an AK47 round will leave a tiny hole where it enters and one about the size of a football when it exits.

It seems the second preferred round is the venerable RPG-7. Good against people, Helicopters and Light Armour, hence its widespread use by our middle eastern 'friends'.

Thanks Dirk, thought they had some new stuff out, that'd stop 30cal, guess it's expensive and rarely used though.Zylon or something similar.

yep, RPG's very bad for ones health, and cheap I guess to.Stay away from walls, if it misses you and hit the wall by you, your in deep shit.

dyl they have lots of new stuff coming out every week i dare say, but he forces cant afford to give every one body armour as it is so i doubt they will be able to buy and dish out the latest greatest pieces of technology every time it comes out.

I was in Afghanistan with the boys from the 160th SOAR. They said a lot of the book was true but the film is pure hollywood. We were made to watch it before we went out with the comment 'Mike Durrants Minigun didn't save him either!!!!!' Hence why RPG's are good helicopter killers.

i think what the book catches most that the movie never was the shear selfless decision made buy the 2 guys to go in knowing that they werent coming back.they where very modest and completely un-gung ho about the whole thing.

If I was the blokes in the CSAR chopper and I had a gun that spat out 67 rounds a second (The mighty M134, the six barrelled bringer of Armagedon) it would've aimed in the general direction of the rampaging mob, rules of engagement and all....
