i have been after a rather specific bike for around 4 years, a rotwild RFR. this in my mind is my perfect bike. now i have found someone selling the down hill version, the RDH which, due to the weird fashions of bikes he doesn`t seem to be able to give away, now i have no money, i have just cleared my credit card and my over draft after over a year or slowly battling with it. should i buy this bike? its not quite perfect but could probably do the job with a bit of a component change. but is it worth me going into debt for.seesoutherndownhill.com - forum, sales section for the bike.

It's not want you want at the end of the day SergeYou could buy it, but you'll still always want the RFR

I'm no expert but I wouldn't pay that much for that bike. It's had 3 owners! You could get a brand new bike for that money.Better IMHO to save up for something and then find the right bike. Live without debt for a little while.

i agree serge, get what you realyl want, otherwise you'll have a 'ginger baby' sindromeok, you'll love it, but you never *really* wanted one, did you!?

Yep, I go with what others have said, put a bit aside each month and wait until you see the 'perfect' one. Then, you won't have to worry about getting so much credit when you buy it (if at all)

The RDH are very, very different to the FR. The RDH has proper DH angles (i.e. slack headtube ect ect) and weighs rather alot, whereas the FR is alot sharper and rides more like an XC bike. My mate used to own a RDH and he bust it, and getting spares for them is a pain i think. I've had a ride on the FR one and it feels pretty nice but its still a Chocwild....

you really don`t know much about Rotwilds do you, its like saying a aston martin is like a ford KA

looks ugly to me but each to their own. 1200 for a well used bike seems a bit much to me but dont know the bike or the kit involved. And you'll have used up all your cash for the next year or more to be able to get to somewhere you can use the ginger freak"."

Ginger freak" LOL it's already got a nick name. ahhh bless."

If you want to get a downhill bike then you can get something better, though 1200 for the set up aint to bad a deal. If you've just got to own a Notwild FR then wait for it, as you won't be able to set up the RDH as a FR/XC bike by slapping short travel forks on it - it'll handle like a dog. Or you could get something better than the German Cycling Device" like a spesh enduro."

<dull and sensible partner mode>Now I would say this, but isn't 1000 of credit card debt just getting back the miserable situation of a year ago? (sorry to point that out!)Surely it'd be MUCH nicer to SAVE UP (albeit slowly) for the bike that you actually want (and that we've decided that you are destined to have!!) And if you can't save money at the moment, how will you pay back a huge (and growing) credit card bill???Sorry sweetie.<back to cheery girlfriend mode who can't really talk since she just spent 6,000 on a big Land Rover. But not on credit card though..>God I feel really horrible now. And also a bit scared about big debts :-(

Going through a dark period of depression at the mo"I can sympathise with that - I'm an XCer, sh1t at loose descents, but even when I get down one successfully, it's the anxiety I remember, not the achievement.Wonder if its something to do with the time of year ?"

Hiya Jim.You'll be glad to hear that I'm feeling pretty cheery today - you normally come round ours when I've had a bad day and I'm feeling really grumpy! I hope to prove tonight that I'm not always such a mardy old cow :-)See you later!

Ste (In a Considerably better mood today)

from the very littel amount of time i spend on here (???) julia, i can tell you're not a mardy old cow

Ah yes but you dont turn up at her house and ruin her domestic bliss for one evening per week with an X-box.

Piggers (Julia)
28-10-03, 15:14
Just as long Serge sets the video for Wife Swap before you plug that damn X-box in ;-)

Piggers (Julia)
28-10-03, 15:41
OOh and wife swap is gonna be a good one tonight (thats 'good' in the cruelest sense of the word). Apparently one of the women lets the other woman's dog drown in their swimming pool. I know its cruel, but I just gotta see the look of horror on her face - and how is she gonna explain that one away... Oops.Sorry, I know that's horrible and I do feel suitably shamed...... now I must make sure Serge sets that video... ;-)
